RE: Running lights no longer working

I had the same problem. Turned out it was just some corrosion on the plug itself. I took a screw driver and roughed up all of the contacts on the plug (pigtail) and plugged it back in, and it worked fine. Might be something to try. KD

RE: Disneyland

Might be worth the effort to look at the CityPass, Costco sells them if you're a member. It gets you your 3 day at Disney, plus universal and a couple in San Diego.

Usage Report - Forest River Wildwood LE (Oregon Version)

I know this comes up a lot, so I thought I'd post here for reference. We have a 2005 Forest River Wildwood LE 23' bunkhouse. We just spent 3.5 solid months in it and towed 11000 miles. Although I wouldn't want to full time in it, thanks to a few little personalizations (storage, etc.,) I wanted to report that this trailer did AWESOME! We had absolutely no problems with any of the systems (we haven't yet since we bought it,) it towed great, and all was good. This is an Oregon trailer (built in the NW for the NW it says) so it's a little heavier insulated. We managed to stay out of the really cold weather (I have a few more days to winterize here). I'm not sure if the Indiana FR products are as well made, but considering I paid just over $13.5k brand new for this trailer, I couldn't be happier. Just food for thought if your contemplating one of these "lower end" models or manufacturers.

RE: Passport America

We had PA for our big 3 month trip, and used it maybe 6 times. It paid for itself on the first night, but remember some of the PA parks get PA in order to compensate for overall lack of offering (based on my observations). I lowered my expectations for PA parks so I wasn't disappointed.

RE: Update on Crete IL campground

Emerald Trails 3132 East Goodenow Rd. Crete IL 60417 For archiving. Just posted my review of this campground on rvparkreviews. I gave it a 4. The staff is terrible, campground isn't well maintained and is overpriced, and it's a long way from the city. Don't stay here.

RE: Portable Electric Heater?

We're doing it right, a 1500W will keep ours nice and toasty. Way cheaper than running the furnace since we're on full hookups.

RE: TT Parking in Lancaster - Clipper Magazine Stadium

For archive purposes, there is NO parking that would accommodate an RV down near the stadium unless you could get permission to park near one of the local business's semis. Better leave it at the campground like we did.

RE: interstate 15

Last time we did it, we stopped in Vegas. I can't remember the park though, but that's a decent place to make a stopping point.

RE: Which Disney Park

We were just there, and I have to disagree with the Animal Park recommendations. Unless your 7 year old is a real animal lover, this is a short-day extra park at best. We liked the safari ride, but the rest is a lot like going to the zoo. Universal is mostly older rides. My kids are 8 and 10 and we loved the water rides there, but the roller coasters I would think might be a little old for the 7 year old. They rated Epcot as their 2nd favorite after Magic Kingdom, and there are lots of things to do there. I'd put them in this order for us as a family, MK, Epcot, Hollywood, Animal. Good luck!

RE: Raccoon Creek State Park - Water Quality

Is there some reason why you are questioning the water quality at this particular park? While I haven't stayed at Raccoon Creek,I have stayed at many other Pennsylvania Parks and used the water in all of them and never had a problem. No reason in particular. Just never been here before. We have been in a lot of campgrounds, and no water is the same, some very good, some my filter can't even correct. I filled my FW tank about 2/3 full before we left, which will be fine for a couple of days.

Raccoon Creek State Park - Water Quality

Hey there. We're due to go for 2 nights at Raccoon Creek on our way through Pittsburgh, and I just now noticed they have electric, but no on-site water. I'm assuming they have a place to fill fresh water though, and I was wondering what the quality might be there. I have water onsite right now, and can fill the tank before we leave, but I hate to tote 300 pounds of water across PA if I don't have to. Thanks! KD

RE: Sprayer for commode

Before we had a toilet with a sprayer I would use the hand held shower head. It would reach and did the job when needed. Same here Me too, and I like it as I can use hot water if I need to. Seems to work well. the only downside is you have to make sure you "disinfect" the shower sprayer if you drop it in the toilet if your anal like me, but a little hand soap and you're good.

TT Parking in Lancaster - Clipper Magazine Stadium

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but we're staying in Lancaster County, and will be attending an event at the stadium. We're on our way out of town, and it would be easier to have the TT with us. I'm concerned about finding a place to park. It will be a weekend day. Does anyone have any suggestions? We're not from here, and looking for advice. Thanks!

RE: Tire Pressure question

How are you all deciding on what pressure to set the tires when not towing? On my 2500HD, tire pressure recommended is 80 psi rear and 60 psi in the front. No where in the manual can I find a different setting. I have thought of running the tires at 60 psi when not towing. The tires are Load E rated and max psi is 80 psi. I just put some Generals on to get rid of the Bridgestones that were original tires but I didn't like. I do mine by feel. If I run too high on my LT's, with this z71 suspension, each bump feels like it'll rattle the doors off, so I run a little lower. I run 50psi when towing, and drop around 38-40psi when not, trying to balance ride comfort slightly, but keep fuel economy and tire wear in a good range.

RE: Tire Pressure question

My burb says basically the same thing, and those numbers on the door are more for ride quality than for anything else. When I ran p-rated, I ran just under the max, like 42psi in my case. Now, I run LT's and run them at the full max, 50lbs on these particular tires. You'll be safer at close to max, IMO, but I'd take it to the local tire shop (or call) and have them help you out to be sure.

RE: campgrounds near Philadelphia and D.C.

Cherry Hill Park in DC will suit your needs. A bus comes to the CG and will take you to the Metro. We just stayed there as part of our 10000 mile trip. Very nice campground, easy to get to the metro station (at the college) or you can take the bus. It's spendy, but everything in DC is. For philly, you're looking at NJ as your best bet. We stayed Timberlane Campground - Clarksboro, NJ. It was okay, and I thought a little overpriced, and not well kept, but it was close to philly. We parked by constitution hall for about $15 a think, and the drive was less than 1/2 hour. I did talk to someone about DC parking, and they paid like $20/day at the Ronald Reagan building, which if you're more than 2 people, will likely be cheaper than the metro, although you can't beat the convenience.

RE: bunk slipping

I weigh 180, and have slept up there with no problem. Call them ASAP, this could kill someone in the bottom bunk, so they should fix it for you. if not, I'd run a 2x2 board all the way around, making sure you get studs to secure it, that way it'll stay in place. You could also run a 1x2 along the wall vertically to give it more support, if you can do that easily.

RE: Parking trailer on a garden for the winter

Reminder...don't use Pressure Treated lumber any where that you grow food. The chemicals can leach into the soil and could potentially add toxins to your food. I agree with adding the boards, just do it with plain wood, or better yet, buy some 2'x2' concrete pavers and use those.

RE: RIP Teton Homes :-(

This seems like a market issue as well. From a purely available market standpoint, a "luxury" travel trailer market is probably pretty small. I would think that most folks who could afford that price tag would be looking for bigger motorhome type rigs. I guess I could be wrong, but I've not seen a ton of the high dollar trailers out there, but lots and lots of big rigs.
